RAMBAN, July 22: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway which was blocked near Mehar in Ramban district late last evening, was restored today morning.
Official sources said that the highway was blocked after land and mud-slides at Mehar and Cafeteria Morh near Ramban late last evening. After this, the shooting stones continued through out the night at these places besides Panthial area. With this, the movement of vehicles came to halt on busy highway.
The restoration work was launched by the National Highway authorities during early morning hours and the road was restored at around 7 am. The stranded Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims at Chanderkote were cleared first and then movement of light motor vehicles was restored from both the sides, followed by movement of heavy vehicles towards Kashmir. But there was brief disruption in movement of vehicles at Mehar during the day today due to frequent falling of stones from the hill, sources added.
