JAMMU, Nov 12: As the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was cleared this morning, all the stranded vehicles on the highway in Jammu, Udhampur and Ramban areas and Kashmir valley are being cleared.
Official sources said that highway which was lying closed for the last couple of days, was restored this morning. The movement of heavy vehicles/trucks carrying goods towards Kashmir was cleared. The light/ medium motor vehicles’ movement from both the sides was also allowed. The movement of vehicles was going on till late this evening.
However, massive traffic jams were created at several places along the highway due to releasing of vehicles from both the sides. The local police and traffic police authorities had a tough time to control the movement of traffic.
IGP Traffic, J&K, Alok Kumar said that traffic has been restored on Jammu-Srinagar highway and since morning till late this evening, over 4000 trucks carrying essentials and other goods were cleared for Kashmir. He said about 1500 light motor vehicles also crossed Nashri by late this evening as LMVs on both the sides were allowed to move. He said movement of traffic was in progress as the weather was clear today.
