NHM completes selection process of 482 candidates for certificate prog

JAMMU, Apr 30: Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir under the guidance of Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education and Bhupinder Kumar, Mission Director, National Health Mission J&K has completed the selection process of 482 candidates to undergo six months Certificate Programme in Community Health in July 2019 session.
The Certificate Programme in Community Health of 282 candidates of BAMS/ Nursing Graduates was conducted through IGNOU and of 200 BUMS candidates through Directorate of Lifelong Learning, University of Kashmir.
A total of 375 candidates completed the training successfully and were eligible for being placed in Health & Wellness Centre- Sub-Centres (HWC-SCs) and accordingly Government has issued order of placement of 375 Mid-Level Health Providers under NHM during month of March & April 2020.
One of the three pillars of Universal Health Care is Comprehensive Primary Health Care through Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centres. Health & Wellness Centres are being established by upgrading Sub-Centres, Primary Health Centres and Urban Health Centres.
In case of Health & Wellness Centres- Sub Centres an additional Human Resource in the form of Mid-Level Health Provider is being deployed. The Mid-Level Health Providers can be BAMS/ BSc. Nursing/ GNM or BUMS. The 12 packages of services at Health & Wellness Centre include proper Maternal and Child Health Care Services, Immunization, Adolescent Health Care Services, Family Planning, Implementation of National Health Programmes, Screening of above 30 years population for Non- Communicable Diseases viz; Hypertension, Diabetes, and three leading Cancers (Oral, Breast & Cervix) , treatment of minor illnesses, elderly care, palliative care, Oral Health, Mental Health etc in addition to wellness activities.
In current scenario the services of these Mid Level Health Providers are being utilized for active case surveillance of Corona Virus- COVID-19, in their respective areas.
