JAMMU, Jan 20: The protest and strike of NHM employees in support of their demands, entered 7th day today while as the NHM Employees’ Association decided to extend the strike for another 72 hours.
Hundreds of NHM employees drawn from various parts of Jammu and other districts of the province assembled at Exhibition Ground. Demanding regularization of their services and fulfillment of their other already agreed demands, they staged a peaceful protest. They were also joined by those employees who have been engaged by NHM through outsourced agencies.
Addressing the protesting employees, Rohit Seth, president, J&K NHM Employees’ Association, said they will continue their protest and strike of their demands like immediate regularization of jobs, implementation of the policy of ‘equal pay for equal work’, implementation of 7th Pay Commission and benefits of social security schemes, are not fulfilled.
He said though Governor Satya Pal Malik has assured of considering their demands but such assurances they have been getting for last two years. He said all assurances in the past have turned out fake and their issues are still lingering on.
“More than 12000 NHM employees of the State have been waiting anxiously for their regularization but Government has failed on all fronts to provide relief to their miseries, Seth said, adding, till any positive response is given by the Governor administration, they will continue to stage peaceful protests.
