JAMMU, Oct 25: On the call of All India NHM Union, National Health Mission employees across J&K observed day-long strike seeking redressal of their long pending demands including regularization of services.
Nearly nine thousands employees working under the Mission in hospitals across the State suspended work which brought the healthcare delivery system to a grinding halt.
In Jammu, hundreds of NHM employees drawn from various districts of Jammu province today assembled at Exhibition Ground and staged a sit-in protest. They raised slogans against the Government for ignoring their genuine demands despite giving assurances several times in the past.

Addressing the protesting workers, Rohit Seth, Association president for Jammu province said reiterated the demands of the employees which include regularization of NHM Employees and implementation of 7th Pay Commission. He said 7th Pay Commission has already been implemented in case of other central sponsored schemes like SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan).
“Today’s protest demonstration is a reminder to the Government to immediately implement the demands accepted at the highest level and initiate the process of policy formulation for regularization of NHM employees in a time bound manner”, he said, adding, if their demands are not fulfilled after this protest than they will continue their strike till the Government take some steps for regularization of NHM employees.
Similar protests were also held in other districts of Jammu province.
Meanwhile, hundreds of employees assembled at CMO offices across the valley, raising slogans in favour of their demands. The employees marched holding placards demanding regularization of services, implementation of SC guidelines on equal pay for equal work and accord of pending commitments made to the employees by Government of J&K in January 2018.
Apart from regularization, the employees have been demanding leaves, EPF, NPS etc and other social security benefits at par with their regular colleagues.
President of the Association for Kashmir province, Muneer Andrabi, urged the authorities to initiate steps to redress the grievances of the employees with regard to job security, financial security and social security so that they may put their best and concerted efforts for achievement of objective of the Mission”.
“There is complete apathy on part of the Government and nothing seems to move. If the Government fails to address our grievances we may have to take harsher steps in future, the responsibility of which will squarely lie on the Government”, he added.
