JAMMU, Dec 19: Employees of National Health Mission (NHM), Revised National Tuberculosis Programme (RNTCP) and National Aids Control Organization (NACO) today warned the Government of protest if their already agreed demands are not fulfilled.
Addressing a press conference here today, leaders of NHM, RNTCP and NACO including Rohit Seth, (Divisional president, NHM Employees’ Association) said, “More than 8000 employees working under these three programmes of Central Government have invested prime of their careers in achieving the objectives of these programmes in J&K”.
“However, despite showing results, these doctors, managerial/supervisory staff and paramedics have been rendered socially and financially insecure,” said Rohit Seth, adding “We all are looking into an uncertain future which puts into jeopardy the social security of our families and dependents”.
Seth said in March 2017, the Government had set up a committee to look into our demands which submitted its report to the Government in January 2018 and that was further forwarded by Health and Medical Education Department to the Finance Department, recommending phased regularization of these employees. “However, the report continues to gather dust in the Finance Department,” he regretted.
The NHMEA leader said, “Again after 34-day long strike, the Government set up a high power group of officers to look into our demands, particularly of regularization/job policy. The then Minister for Health had a meeting with our representatives on January 22, 2018 and announced to fulfill certain demands like accord of ‘equal pay for equal work’ benefits as per SC order (Haryana pattern), leave benefits as per Orissa State Health Mission, extension of EPF/NPS benefits to all employees including doctors and managers, removal of disparity of management and paramedical staff and setting up of contributory Employees welfare Fund but all these demands are still pending”.
He said that the employees of NHM, RNTCP and NACO have been left with no option but to hit roads and resort to agitation. He gave ultimatum to the Government that if it fail to positively concede their demands in 20 days, they shall start a sustained agitation from January 10, 2019.
