JAMMU, Nov 7: NHPC Limited, India’s leading hydropower company and a Navratna enterprise, celebrated its 50th Raising Day with events held at its Corporate Office in Faridabad and across all regional offices, power stations, and project sites.
The celebrations marked NHPC’s entry into its Golden Jubilee year since its foundation in 1975.
The event began with the unfurling of the NHPC flag by CMD R K Chaudhary, followed by the NHPC anthem.
Speaking on the occasion, CMD Chaudhary extended his best wishes to NHPC employees, highlighting the company’s achievements in power generation and sustainable development.
He noted that the 50th Raising Day was particularly special as NHPC recently achieved Navratna status on August 30, a testament to the organization’s dedication and excellence.
Director (Finance) RP Goyal emphasized NHPC’s strong financial foundation and projected continued growth, while Director (Personnel) Uttam Lal expressed gratitude to former employees whose contributions helped elevate NHPC.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects & Technical), highlighted NHPC’s installed capacity of over 7,000 MW and ongoing efforts to advance green energy generation.
Chief Vigilance Officer Santosh Kumar spoke on NHPC’s commitment to not only power generation but also to community welfare and national development.
The celebration featured the presentation of the NHPC Awards Scheme for 2023-24, recognizing achievements in categories such as Best Power Station, Best Construction Project, and Exemplary Commitment.
Two new award categories were introduced: ‘Honhar,’ for employees’ children admitted to premier institutes, and ‘Hunar,’ honoring achievements in sports, arts, music, and culture. A total of 23 awards were presented under these new categories.
The day concluded with vibrant cultural performances by NHPC employees, adding to the festive spirit and engaging the audience.
