JAMMU, Nov 19: The NHPC Regional Office in Jammu today organized a State/UT Level painting competition on “Energy Conservation” for students from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Held at the NHPC premises in Narwal, the event was part of a national campaign to promote awareness about energy conservation, guided by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India.
This annual competition, which has been held for several years, invites students from two groups: Group A (Class V to VII) and Group B (Class VIII to X).
Out of the selected paintings sent by schools, 100 students – 50 from each group – were invited to participate in the State/UT level competition.
The event saw students from various schools across Jammu and Kashmir compete, with a total of 26 students winning prizes.
In Group A, the first prize was awarded to Akriti Sharma, a Class 7 student from Army Public School, Samba. The second prize went to Aayat Tariq, a Class 6 student from Heritage School, Jammu, while the third prize was claimed by Aditya Sumbria, a Class 5 student from BSF Senior Secondary School, Jammu.
In Group B, the first prize was won by Arpit Singh, a Class 10 student from JKPPS, Miran Sahib. The second prize was awarded to Surobhi Saha, a Class 9 student from Army Public School, Ratnuchak, and the third prize went to Aritry Mazumdar, also a Class 9 student from Army Public School, Ratnuchak.
In addition to the top three prizes in each group, ten consolation prizes were also distributed to other deserving participants.
The paintings were evaluated by a five-member jury consisting of experts in the fields of art and culture.
The winning students received certificates of merit along with prize money.
During the event, the Executive Director of NHPC congratulated all the winners and emphasized the importance of energy conservation.
He encouraged the students to continue promoting the message of energy saving, describing them as “brand ambassadors” of the energy conservation campaign.
The event was attended by NHPC officials, employees, students, teachers, and parents, all of whom contributed to making the competition a success.
