LEH, Oct 11: The officials of NHPC, Projects Vijayak and Himank today met Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retired) at the LG Secretariat here.
During the meeting, the Head of the Project at Chutak Power Station, Jitendra Kumar of NHPC Limited, briefed the LG on various NHPC initiatives aimed at benefiting the local community in Chutak.
These included providing water supply, developing a children’s park, and constructing a football ground.
Additionally, he highlighted NHPC’s potential role in assisting with the repair of damaged irrigation khuls in the village.
The LG inquired about grievances related to land acquisition for the hydro project and urged Jitendra to explore the possibility of developing Chutak as a model village under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.
He also recommended that Jitendra meet with the Advisor to the LG to discuss further development initiatives for nearby villages impacted by the Chutak Power Project.
In another meeting, officials from Project Vijayak and Project Himank, including Col Rishab Jain and Col Tarun Kalai, called on the LG.
They provided updates on key infrastructure projects in Ladakh, some of which are set to be inaugurated by the Raksha Mantri, Rajnath Singh, on October 12, 2024.
The Lieutenant Governor raised concerns about the Shayok bridge during discussions with Col Rishab of Project Vijayak.
He instructed DGP Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, to monitor the crossing of overloaded vehicles to prevent potential damage to the bridge and ensure public safety.
Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal; DGP Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal; Commissioner Secretary to the LG, Dr L Franklin, and Secretary, PWD, Michael D’Souza, were also present in the meetings.
