JAMMU, Feb 8: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for ‘Development of 10000 MW Renewable Energy (RE) Projects and Parks in the state of Rajasthan’ in the august presence of Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, at Jaipur.
The LOI was signed by YK Chaubey, Director (Technical), NHPC and Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Mines and Petroleum Department and Energy Department and Chairman and Managing Director, Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited and Chairman, Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.
Ramlal Jat Minister of Revenue, Government of Rajasthan, Shakuntala Rawat, Minister of Industry, Government of Rajasthan, Bhanwar Singh Bhati, Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge), Water Resources, IGNP, Water Resources Planning, Government of Rajasthan and Usha Sharma, Chief Secretary, Rajasthan were also present on the occasion. Ram Swaroop, Executive Director (Renewable Energy), NHPC and other officers of NHPC were also present.
Under the leadership of AK Singh, CMD, NHPC, the Company is expanding its Renewable Energy portfolio and has taken up several Renewable Energy Projects under different modes.
The signing of this Letter of Intent and the support of Government of Rajasthanwill mark a new beginning to develop 10000 MW Renewable energy parks and projects in Rajasthan which would involve huge investments of around Rs 20,000 crore.
The Prime Minister in COP-26 had announced that India will go Carbon neutral by 2070 and by 2030 India will generate 500 GW from non-fossil fuel sources which will be 50 per cent of total installed capacity and this initiative of NHPC will be a big milestone in this matter.
