NHPC signs MoU with JKSPDD for setting Hydro Power Training Institute

JAMMU, Apr 13: NHPC Limited signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with J&K State Power Development Department (JKSPDD) for setting up of Hydro Power Training Institute at Kangan.
S Kalgaonkar, Executive Director, NHPC Regional Office, Jammu on behalf of NHPC Limited and Yahoor Ahmed, Executive Director, JKSPDC on behalf of J&K State Power Development Department signed the MoU in presence of Ajit Kumar Seth, Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, P Uma Shankar, Power Secretary, Government of India, Devendra Chaudhry, Additional Secretary, G Sai Prasad, Joint Secretary, MOP and Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC Limited, Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary, PDD, DP Bhargava, Director (Technical), RS Mina, Director (Personnel), NHPC Limited, Basharat Ahmed Dhar, Managing Director, JKSPDC.
The Hydro Power Institute will be built by NHPC Limited at a cost of Rs 55 Crores.
Setting up of this Hydro Power Training Institute at Kangan aims at training and educating individuals from various Power Generating Organizations in J&K.
The institute would be exclusively designed with specialized modules for training of hydro power personnel in the areas of planning, design, execution, testing, commissioning and O&M.
