JAMMU, Dec 20: NHPC Ltd, India’s largest hydropower company, will invest Rs 5,500 crore in setting up a 1,000 Megawatt solar power project in Bihar.
The announcement was made by its Chairman and Managing Director Raj Kumar Chaudhary, here today.
In this regard an MoU was exchanged between R K Chaudhary, CMD, NHPC and Bandana Preyashi, Secretary, Department of Industries, Govt. of Bihar in presence of Vijay Kumar Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Minister of Energy and Planning & Development Department and Nitish Mishra, Minister of Department of Industries and Tourism, Govt of Bihar.
These transformative projects aim to advance the state’s renewable energy goals and contribute towards the energy transition efforts in India.
In addition to promoting clean energy, the initiative is expected to create approximately 800 employment opportunities, fostering socio-economic growth and empowering local communities.
This collaboration underscores NHPC’s commitment to sustainability and innovation while supporting Bihar’s vision of becoming a hub for renewable energy and green technology.
