NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the Rajasthan Government over reported deaths of more than 80 children during last two months at a hospital in Banswara of the State and asked it to file a detailed a report in the matter within a month.
“A notice was issued to Rajasthan’s Chief Secretary, calling for a detailed report in the matter (on the deaths of children) within four weeks along with the steps taken and proposed to be taken to improve the conditions in the hospital,” the Rights body said in a statement here today.
The NHRC also asked the Chief Secretary to inform whether any instructions in the recent past have been issued to the hospitals and other Medical Care institutions sensitising them to be attentive and careful to prevent such tragic deaths.
Taking serious exception to the reported poor facilities and upkeep of the hospital, the Commission has observed that the negligence on the part of the hospital authorities amounts to violation of right to life of the poor victims. (AGENCIES)
