SRINAGAR, Jan 28: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted extensive searches in Kashmir in a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) linked case of killing of two migrant labourers from Amritsar Punjab.

Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih from Chamyari area of Amritsar in Punjab were shot dead in Shala Kadal area of Srinagar city on February 7 last year. Singh had died on the spot while Masi, was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries at a Srinagar hospital the next day.
An official said that an NIA team raided the house of Shabir Ahmad Gojri son of Sonaullah Gojri of Matayi Band Hamdaniya Colony in Bemina area of Srinagar.

Earlier, in the morning the team went to Police Post Bagiyas to conduct a raid at Mughal Mohalla in old city area of Srinagar where Shabir Ahmad Gojri son of Sonaullah Gojri was residing but they were told that he is living in Bemina area. Gojri runs a transport agency in Parimpora area of Srinagar
The NIA also conducted raids at Lal Mandi in Srinagar at Dawat Textiles office which belongs to Jameel Ahmad Ainam son of Habibullah Ainam of Jaimah Qadeem Sopore. He is presently residing at Hyderpora in Srinagar. Another NIA team carried out raids at Sadiq Colony Ashpeer in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
A statement issued by the NIA said that the agency conducted searches at six locations in the districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Baramulla in the case RC-01/2024/NIA/JMU, registered by NIA on 15th June 2024 on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The NIA had earlier charge sheeted four accused in the case. They are Adil Manzoor Langoo, Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood, and their handler based in Pakistan, Jahangeer alias Peer Sahab.
The NIA statement said that its teams seized several incriminating materials from the residential premises belonging to sympathisers, cadres and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of the proscribed terror outfit, LeT, and its offshoot ‘The Resistance Front’ (‘TRF’). “The suspects were involved in harbouring, sheltering and providing logistical assistance to terrorists”, the statement said.
It further said that the NIA investigations in the case so far have revealed that masterminds of LeT and TRF were in touch with youth in Kashmir to orchestrate attacks on non-locals as part of a conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India.
“The criminal conspiracy was reportedly planned both physically and through cyberspace, using encrypted social media applications,” the statement said.
“The NIA is examining the materials seized during the searches and is continuing with its probe in the case,” read the statement.
