Doc’s house searched in Jammu, nephew summoned

SRINAGAR/Jammu, Aug 18: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted raids in Kashmir at three locations and house of a Doda-based doctor at Bhatindi in Jammu region and detained a teenage boy and his father from Kupwara.
An official said that 19 year old boy Mehrajudin Sofi and his father Ghulam Mohammad Sofi were picked up by the NIA this morning during a raid at Kralpora village in Kupwara. The duo has been taken to Srinagar for questioning. The boy is pursuing B Com from Government Degree College Kupwara.

The NIA also raided the house of Shehzad Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat at Parigam in Kulgam district. The raids started at Bhat’s house who is mason by profession at around 5:45 amand lasted for a few hours.
The NIA also raided the house of Mohammad Yusuf Wani son of Abdul Salam Wani of Chotigam in Shopian district. The raid was carried out at the house of Wani who is a farmer by profession early today and lasted for a few hours.
As per an official, the case pertains to the criminal conspiracy for carrying out militant and subversive activities hatched by the cadres and Over Ground Workers (OWGs) of various proscribed organizations and their affiliates and off-shoots, operating under various pseudo names, at the behest of their Pakistani commanders and handlers.
“The organizations and their affiliates are involved in carrying out terrorist attacks by using cyber-space in Jammu and Kashmir targeting minorities, and security personnel and spreading communal disharmony,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Jammu, the NIA today searched the residence of Dr Parvez Mir at Bhatindi on outskirts of Jammu City.
While Dr Mir is posted at Gandoh in Doda district, the NIA was actually looking for his nephew Mohammad Osama who also used to stay with him.
Osama had reportedly used an App to send certain emails which are part of investigations.
The NIA has sought presence of Osama at their Jammu office for questioning.
His mobile telephone has reportedly been seized for extracting data.
