NIA DSP , member of the Pathankot attack probe team shot dead: wife critical

BIJNORE :  A National Investigation Agency (NIA) DSP, a member of the Pathankot terrorist attack, was shot dead and his wife was critically injured by some unidentified assailants here  late last night. Uttar Pradesh  DGP Javeed Ahmed has sought details of the deceased NIA officer while UP ATS has rushed to the spot. NIA team from Delhi and Lucknow are also reaching the spot.
Police told today that two criminals fired on NIA DSP Tanzil Ahmed when he was returning back to his residence with his wife  and two children from a wedding function at around 0100 hrs after mid night.
The incident occurred near his residence in Sahaspur locality under Sheohara police station. Sources said that the DSP was reportedly shot several times, and his wife has sustained four bullets.
The  children aged 10 and 8 years were unhurt. The criminal is reportedly to have used prohibitory 9mm pistol to kill the officer. While Tanzil was pronounced dead on arrival at a medical facility in Moradabad, his wife Farzana is critical and battling for her life in a hospital in New Delhi. The deceased was recruited in the BSF and later went to the NIA on deputation.
Recently he was promoted to DSP and was given permanent posting in the NIA. Tanzil was also a team member in the probe team investigating into the Pathankot terror attack. (AGENCIES)
