NIA team visits Narsu

JAMMU, Aug 9: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) team today visited Narsu near Samroli in Udhampur district on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to inspect the spot where two Pakistani militants had struck on August 5. They inter-acted with local police officers and some eye-witnesses of the attack.
Official sources said the team headed by NIA SP Mr Salaria and comprising other officers remained at Narsu for about two hours and examined all the spots, where the militants targeted the BSF bus, the dhaba where the militants took tea and the hills, where one of the militants had fled and was captured alive by the civilians and VDC members.
The NIA team inter-acted with local police officers to acquaint themselves with the incident that took place in the morning of August 5 in which two BSF jawans were killed and 13 others   injured. The BSF jawans had gunned down one of the Pakistani terrorist while another was captured alive.
They also met some eye-witnesses of the incident.
A day before NIA’s Chief Investigating Officer of August 5 terror attack, SSP Atul Goel had also visited Narsu for on spot investigations.
Sources said the NIA had formed different teams, one of which was camping at Srinagar and another at Jammu.
Yesterday, the NIA’s Srinagar team along with police had arrested eight persons, who had harboured and provided other logistic support to the Pakistani terrorists during their about two months stay in the Kashmir valley after their infiltration from Kupwara sector.
It may be mentioned here that the Union Home Ministry has handed over the terror attack case to the NIA for investigations in view of the arrest of Pakistani militant, first after 26/11/2008 arrest of Ajmal Kasab after Mumbai attack.
The NIA was hunting some more contacts of captured Pakistani militant Mohammad Naved Yaqub of  Faisalabad, in the Kashmir valley and some arrests were on the cards, sources said.
