NIA traces links

Home Ministry has directed National Investigation Agency to conduct in depth investigation into the Pathankot air base terrorists attack. The Agency has undertaken investigation into the case, and reports trickling down to the media reveal that a number of people have been interrogated to get at the root of the event. Most important is to find out the route which the Pakistani terrorist had adopted to sneak into our side of the border. There are surmises that they have used the same route which the drug smugglers use in Punjab. If that is true then maybe some drug smuggling agents are party to the terrorist ingress.
One dimension of the inquiry underway at the level of NIA is to find out the similarities between the Pathankot air base attack and the three attacks which have been made in Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts during past two year. The team has visited the police stations that were targeted by the terrorists. According to preliminary investigation, it is said that there is considerable similarity.
As the drug smuggling and terror activities are co-related, the NIA must recommend strong measures to the Home Ministry to plug the routes. In this way both drug smuggling and ingress of terrorists would be checked upto large extent.
