NEW DELHI, Nov 21: Nickel futures prices fell by 0.61 per cent to Rs 911.50 per kg today, tracking a weakening trend in base metals in the global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in December traded Rs 5.60, or 0.61 per cent lower at Rs 911.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 959 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in November declined by Rs 5.50, or 0.60 per cent, to Rs 904 per kg, with a business turnover of 6,115 lots.
Market participants said apart from sluggish demand from alloy makers, weakness in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) as slow physical markets in China and a fifth straight monthly drop in Japan’s exports fueled concerns over a recovery in demand, put pressure on nickel futures here.
