Nickel rises 0.18 pc on spot demand, global cues

NEW DELHI, Feb 25: Nickel prices moved up by 0.18 per cent to Rs 896 per kg in futures trade today on pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market amid a firm global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in March moved up by Rs 1.60, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 896 per kg to Rs 896 per kg in business turnover of 204 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February gained Rs 1.20, or 0.14 per cent to Rs 890 per kg in 746 lots.
Market analysts said besides pick-up in demand from consuming industries, a firm trend in the global market led to rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, nickel for delivery in three months traded 0.3 per cent higher at USD 14,373 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange. (AGENCIES)
