NEW DELHI, Sept 2: Buoyed by a firming trend in base metals overseas, nickel prices moved up by 0.23 per cent to Rs 1,137 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions.
Further, rising demand at domestic spot markets from alloy-makers also supported the upside.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in current month contracts rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 1,137 per kg in business turnover of 326 lots.
Metal for delivery in October was up Rs 1.90, or 0.17 per cent, to Rs 1,143 per kg in just one lot.
Market analysts said a firming at the London Metal Exchange (LME) where entire base metals strengthened as worse-than-expected manufacturing data in China and the euro area increased speculation of more economic stimulus, mainly led to rise in nickel futures here. (PTI)
