Night temp rises in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Feb 13: Most places witnessed an increase in minimum temperature but stayed below freezing point with Srinagar recording a low of minus 2.5°C today.
The temperature in Srinagar increased by over one degree Celsius from the previous night’s minus 3.6°C and it was below normal by 2.7°C; Qazigund recorded a minimum of minus 1.2°C against minus 3.2°C on the previous night;
Pahalgam minus 5.4°C against minus 7.0°C on the previous night; Kupwara minus 4.5°C against minus 4.4°C on the previous night while Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 4.5°C against minus 4.4°C on the previous night.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 15.5 degree Celsius temperature today which was 6.0 degree Celsius above normal for the city for this time of the year.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 14.9 degree Celsius which is 5.8 degree Celsius above normal; Pahalgam a maximum of 11.1 degree, 4.7 degree Celsius above normal; Kupwara 16.0 degree Celsius, 7.2 degree C above normal while Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 7.4 degree Celsius which is 6.2 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year.
A Meteorological Department official said that weather is expected to be mainly dry till February 17.
“Overall, dry weather is expected till February 17,” he said, adding, “Another wet spell is most likely with possibility of light to moderate snow at many places of J&K from February 18-20.”
