SRINAGAR, Nov 29: The night temperature across Kashmir remained below the freezing point, even as there was relief from the cold conditions at some places today, with the weatherman predicting light rainfall or snow at few places over the next 24 hours.
And the flight operations were disrupted at Srinagar Airport this afternoon as 5 flights were cancelled due to poor visibility. An official said that 12 flights operated till 2 p.m from Srinagar airport but 5 others were cancelled due to poor visibility.
A Meteorological official said that Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature of minus 1.3 degree Celsius, slightly up from the previous night’s minus 1.9 degree Celsius.
The night temperature in Leh recorded minus 4.6 degree Celsius, an increase of four degrees from minus 8.6 degree Celsius yesterday. The increase in the night temperature provided relief to the people from the cold conditions.
Kargil town recorded the minimum temperature of minus 4.4 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg in North Kashmir registered the low of 0.8 degree Celsius, up from the previous night’s minus 0.6 degree Celsius.
Pahalgam registered the minimum of minus 2.2 degree Celsius up from minus 3.0 degree Celsius yesterday.
Kupwara, in North Kashmir, registered the low of minus 2.9 degree Celsius compared to the previous night’s minus 2.7 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Kokernag town in South settled at 0.4 degree Celsius as compared to the previous night’s 0.8 degree Celsius.
Qazigund recorded the low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius against yesterday’s minus 0.8 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Jammu city was recorded at 10.1 degree Celsius today, Katra recorded 12.1 degree Celsius, Batote recorded 7.8 degree Celsius, Banihal 2.8 and Bhaderwah 4.3.
Srinagar recorded maximum day temperature of 12.3 degree Celsius while normal day temperature for this time of the year is 12 degree Celsius, Qazigund recorded 14.4 degree Celsius, Pahalgam 12.3 degree Celsius, Kupwara 11.8 degree Celsius and Kokernag 12. 4 degree Celsius.
The day temperatures in Jammu city was recorded at 25.4 degree Celsius, while it was 23.6 degree Celsius in Katra town, 18.2 degree Celsius in Batote, 21.8 degree Celsius in Banihal and 20 degree Celsius in Bhaderwah town.
The Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or snow at few places in the State.
