JAMMU, Oct 16: Nimrandeep Singh, General Secretary J&K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) while expressing shock over the dip in India’s rank in Global Hunger Index from 94 to 101 lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Govt at the Centre alleging that it is responsible for this retrogression.
In a statement issued to media here today, the JKPYC General Secretary lamented that what could be more shameful for the people of the world’s largest democracy than the fact that this nation of ours is today even lagging behind the petty neighbours like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Quoting the Global Hunger Index (GHI) report, Nimrandeep Singh said that India has slipped to 101st among 116 countries from its 2020 ranking of 94. India is behind Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. With a score of 27.5, India has a level of hunger that is serious, he added.
Strongly hitting out at the Modi Government, Nimrandeep said that if the people of this nation cannot even eat enough food, then it directly raises questions on the credibility and efficiency of those who are steering the Govt especially the one sitting in the driver’s seat.
