Nine-day long Navratra festival concludes

JAMMU, Oct 13: The nine day long Navratra festival culminated today with Kanjak Poojan, immersion of Saakh in rivers and solemnization of hawans across the Jammu region.
There was heavy rush of devotees in city temples from early in the morning on the occasion of Mahanavmi.
A heavy rush was witnessed at Tawi bank at B C Road, Ranbir canal banks, Tawi canal and Akhnoor Ghat where hundreds of devotees were waiting for their turn to immerse the Saakh.
An impressive ‘Aarti Sandhaya’ was organized at the right bank of river Chenab, here at Jio Pota Ghat to mark the celebrations of Navratra festival.
The function was organized by the Sandhaya Aarti Committee in collaboration with Directorate of Tourism Jammu.
Minister for PHE, Sham Lal Sharma, was the chief guest on the  occasion.
Jio-Pota Ghat at Akhnoor has great historical importance as Maharaja Ranjeet Singh of Punjab solemnized coronation of Raja Ghulab Singh as Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir at this place.
On the occasion, the Minister interacted with a cross section of people including representatives of various social and religious organizations.
Extending Navratra greetings to the people, he said that all religions show path which leads to prosperous and peaceful life adding that religions teach the moral code of conduct for truthful living.
SDM Akhnoor, all sectoral officers, tehsildar, representatives of social organizations, Panchs & Sarpanchs, School Children and senior citizens were also present on the occasion.
A nine-day long spiritual activity held during the Navratra festival also concluded at Bhagavaan Gopinathji Ashram Udaywala Bohri today. During the spiritual activities over three crore mantras were recited by the devotees in the Mahayagya which had actually started on the evening of October 4 and concluded with Puranahuti today. This was followed by serving of Prasad to devotees.
The nine day long celebrations also culminated at Swami Kumar Ji Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi with solemnization of a Mahayagya today.
A large number of devotees thronged the Ashram to take part in the celebrations. Swami Kumar Ji gave religious discourses daily and explained the religious significance of nine days of Navratra festival. Later the Saakh was immersed in river which was taken in the form of a religious procession from the Ashram.
The nine -day long Durga Pooja also culminated today with a Mahayagya at Sharika Peeth Sansthan Subash Nagar where a large number of devotees took part in the celebrations.
A hawan was also performed on the occasion under the supervision of president of the Santhan, M K Jalali. The hawan started yesterday and it culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon. This was followed with serving of Prasad to devotees.
