Nine meat sellers booked

JAMMU, Apr 9: Department of Legal Metrology today booked nine shopkeepers dealing with meat and chicken in city and its outskirts under the relevant provisions of J&K Weighs and Measures Enforcement (JKWME) Act, 1997 and realized a fine of Rs 6500 from them.
A team of Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Deputy Controller, VS Sambyal conducted a surprise checking of various shops dealing with selling of meat and chicken in Gujjar Nagar, Jewel, Janipur and adjoining areas and booked nine of them for indulging in less delivery of meat or chicken to the consumers.
The team also realized a fine of Rs 6500 on the spot from the erring shopkeepers. The other traders who had not displayed rate lists in the trading premises, were served warning by the team, which also directed them to display rate lists conspicuously in their trading premises.
