JAMMU, Jan 25: Former Deputy CM of J&K, Dr Nirmal Singh inaugurated Trans-Himalayan National Multilingual Webinar on the eve of Republic Day.
The program was jointly organized by Duggar Manch, Jammu, GAP India, Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar, and Ufirst Mag Sikkim. Young college students from Ladakh, Jammu, Kashmir, Gharwal, Kumaon, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh participated in the event on Zoom. They presented their views in their own mother tongue on the topics, “Main Banaunga Bharat ko Mahaan,” “I as an agent of Social Change,” “Vasudev Kutumbakum,” and “Role of Women in Nation Building.”
On the final day, three speakers in each language spoke on the occasion. The top three candidates in each language of the region, were selected after semifinal event yesterday.
Addressing the virtual gathering, Dr Nirmal Singh, who was chief guest, said that the progress of a nation largely depends on its youth and the way the participants have expressed their solidarity and feeling of oneness will surely again make India a Vishwa-Guru. Moreover, the Trans-Himalayan region has always played a pivotal role in protecting the country. Through language and cultural exchange the unity of this country is further consolidated through such programs. He also added that keeping in view of threat from China it becomes more pertinent that all these regions come together and value the ancient deep rooted culture, history and heritage that range from Gilgit-Baltistan up to Arunachal Pradesh of the entire Himalayan border.
In the beginning of the program Mohan Singh, president Duggar Manch, welcomed the virtual gathering formally and motivated the youth to come forward and be a part of the rich linguistic and cultural legacy of India.
He complimented Tajamul Ara, co-ordinator from Ladakh, Prof Shalini Rana coordinator for Dogri and Kashmiri, Dr Shweta Awasthi and Dr Meenakshi Singh for Gharwali and Kumaon, Dr Pravin Rizal and Dr. Bishal from Sikkim and Chello Meme from Arunachal Pradesh for making this cultural exchange a reality.
Dr. Gurudutta Japee and Dr. Preeti Oza of GAP India also extended their full support for promoting the language and literature of different States of Trans –Himalayan region.
The meeting was also attended by Dr SP Bhat, Dr. Prakash Chandra Pant, Sagarmani Dhakal. The concluding remarks were given by Dr Ajay Singh from Central University of Jammu. The winners in each section were, Ibtesum Iqbal in Ladakhi, Tanveer and Hilal Ahmed in Kashmiri, Diksha Kaluria in Dogri, Kavita Pandey in Kumaoni, Seeya Limbo in Sikkimese and Chello Meme in Nyishi ( Arunachali Dialect).
