JAMMU, Mar 16: Former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP legislator from Billawar, Dr Nirmal Singh today started the work of black-topping of various road projects in his Billawar constituency worth Rs 6.3 crore including Billawar town and Phinter- Billawar- Sukrala Mata road road today.
Dr Singh later inaugurated a farmers’ awareness camp at Lakhri, organized by Agriculture Department. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed upon the farmers to take benefits of the various schemes launched by NDA Government. He appealed the Governor NN Vohra to immediately launch PM Fasal Beema Yojna so that farmers of the State, especially Kandi area can take the benefit. He asked the State Administration to provide compensation to the farmers hit due to drought like conditions in the State.
He said that during his tenure as MLA in last one year, Billawar got more than Rs 200 crore developmental projects including Nursing College, Rs 47 cr worth bridge at Jathana, Indoor Stadium at Billawar, Dyala Chak to Challan National Highway and Lakhanpur-Basohli-Dunera Highway etc. He claimed that Central Government has sanctioned Rs 780 crores for strengthening of road network in the State.
Dr Nirmal Singh said that prime focus is to provide basic amenities to the people of Billawar constituency. He said that under Integrated Housing Slum Development Project, Rs 30 lakh have been distributed among the beneficiaries of Billawar town.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included Chief Agriculture Officer Vipen Sambyal, SDM Rajeshwar Charak, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Basohli Division Suman Bhaskar, BJP leaders Narayan Dutt, Gopal Basotra, Surinder Bloria, Ganesh Basotra, Mukesh Khajuria, Kuldeep Abrol, Amrik Singh and Satish Sharma.
