JAMMU, Mar 16: A delegation of NIS trained coaches, led by former legislator Vikram Randhawa called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Randhawa briefed that these community coaches during 2016-17 when there was tense situation in UT due to militancy and stone pelting. UT Government along with Central Government took an immediate action in order to divert the youth towards other positive things. In this connection, the Central Government released immediate fund under Prime Minister Special Package to uplift the sports activities at mass level, he added.
Randhawa informed that a group of 200 sports persons all over the UT from different districts sent to NIS Patiala for 8 week special certificate course under Prime Minister Special Package, added that after completion of courses all certified coaches had been appointed in July 2017 under J&K Sports Council order, but due to uncertainty of Government in 2018, these community coaches are struggling for their jobs. Even advanced funds are available with Council, Major Head for remuneration of 207 NIS community coaches.
Meanwhile, the delegation of Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE) also called on Lieutenant Governor.
The delegation led by its Senior Vice President Devinder Kaur Madaan urged the Lt Governor for implementation of necessary reforms to improve the condition of street animals and livestock in the UT of J&K.
The delegation also demanded the provision of shelter and ambulance in each district for rescue and rehabilitation of abandoned, abused, injured or disabled animals, besides implementation of ‘Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act’ in letter and spirit.
The Lt Governor assured the delegations that their genuine demands would be redressed expeditiously.
