JAMMU, May 9: State joint secretary of Congress, Salman Nizami, has condemned the thrashing and stripping of people who had come out to vote by certain sections of the youth in North Kashmir.
He said, “Boycott being enforced under the barrel of the gun in certain parts of South Kashmir proves that vested interests are feeling threatened and want to curb the rights of people to decide what they want”.
He said that several parts of the Valley reported brisk voting despite the threats issued by militants and the boycott calls clearly indicate a growing confidence in the Indian democracy.
People have every right to choose the Government for development, education, health, etc, and no one can force their ideologies on them, he said and thanked all those who came out to cast their votes.
