JAMMU, Dec 29: Three protected monuments and heritage sites in Kashmir are proposed to be declared as United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites and in this regard a proposal has been submitted by the Monument Authority of India to Union Government.
Besides, over 1000 year old greatest Buddhist heritage site at Harwan, Srinagar in Kashmir Valley has also been recommended to be declared as world heritage site by UNESCO.
This was informed by Chairman National Monument Authority (NMA) and former MP, Tarun Vijay in an Exclusive interview to Excelsior today.
He said the three heritage sites of Kashmir which the Authority has strongly recommended to be declared as world heritage sites included Sun Temple of Martand in Anantnag district of Kashmir Valley, heritage and protected site of Parispora and Pandhrathan in Srinagar district of Kashmir Valley.
He said all these protected monuments which are the heritage sites reflect the rich and speaking art, culture and architecture of ancient Kashmir and they needed to be protected for posterity besides be declared as world heritage sites.
Tarun Vijay said in addition to that the Authority has also recommended that more monuments in J&K which have been neglected so far be declared as protected sites and handed over to Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for their upkeep and development. These proposals are under active consideration of the Government expressing the hope that the action in this regard will be taken soon.
Tarun Vijay said in line with Modi Government’s mantra of protecting all heritage sites of the country, the proposals have been submitted by the Monument Authority of India to the Government.
He said the Authority, while taking serious note of encroachments made at some heritage sites in Kashmir by some unscrupulous people has also urged the Government to get the same removed without further delay.
He regretted that Jehadi forces in Kashmir destroyed the history of Kashmir’s past glory which was a common heritage of the people of the Valley. Unfortunately no efforts were made to project them as world heritage sites and only later constructions of Mughal icons by the invaders were projected as the Kashmir has no pre- Mughal history.
He said now the Narendra Modi Government is correcting the past mistakes of prejudicial historians and Archeologists. “We have also suggested rejuvenation of Martand and Vital Bhairav shrines in Kashmir and urged the ASI to take strong action against the encroachers both in Jammu province and Kashmir Valley, he added.
He said that deliberately memory erasing of Kashmir’s ancient culture and heritage was done by the forces inimical to composite culture. Kashmiri Hindus are the only ethnic community in the world that has been a victim of most atrocious and monstrous killing and memory erasing assaults of inimical forces against the coexistence of religions in the world.
Tarun Vijay said the first priority of the Government should be to preserve the memory of their pain, sufferings and stark truth. The only reason that these people were subjected to barbarism by militants was that they practised to a particular dharma, he added.
He said the Kashmiri Hindus must transfer their experiences as the bravest and most courageous people on earth who withstood all the atrocities of inimical forces and they are now reclaiming their rights of land as the rightful owners of Kashmir.
He said without their safe and honorable return to their homes and revival of their songs of joy the Indian Republic is incomplete.
Tarun Vijay, while maintaining that Modi’s policy of restoring peace in Kashmir is being acknowledged world over said during his recent tour abroad the people and leaders who met him were wandering about miraculous and enormous transformation of J&K from a land of bloodshed to the land of new hope and opportunities.
He said as the great King Lalitaditya of Kashmir had defeated the enemies of Kashmir in past and created an era of security and flourishing of art and culture, Narendra Modi has ended the Khandani Sultaniat (dynastic rule) which was the dark period and relieved the people of stone pelters and daily hartals.
He said development is presently corner stone in J&K , medical colleges, engineering colleges have been established, highways, tunnels constructed, train service to Kashmir has become a reality, IIT and IIM etc are the identity of Naya Jammu and Kashmir.
He also made it clear that the pain of Kashmiri Hindus who suffered tremendously over last many decades is shared by Modi, Amit Shah and every BJP worker. He said BJP will not rest till the sufferings of Kashmiri Pandits are not solved to their satisfaction.
He said the patriotic Muslims in Kashmir are also understanding the steps taken by the Modi Government for the welfare of the people of the UT and its development and they also crave for return of the days when both communities lived in complete peace and harmony. But these are few handful people who were foreign invaders that ruined the Kashmir and sowed the seeds of hatred, he added.
