JAMMU, July 31: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri today appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce the release of pending installment of 5 per cent DA due from July 1, 2019 in favor of Central and State Government employees and pensioners.
“We appeal to PM Narendra Modi to announce the release of 5% DA due from July 1, 2019 in favor the employees and pensioners of Central and State Governments in view of increasing inflation and price hike of essential commodities,” Shastri said in a memorandum sent to Narendra Modi.
Shastri said the price index which was 5.90 per cent in December 31, 2018 stands at 10.75 in June 30, 2019 and urged PM to take decision in this regard at the forthcoming Union Cabinet meeting so that salaried class and pensioners would get sigh of relief from rising prices and inflation.
Shastri said prices of all essential commodities have gone up so there was no justification on the part of the Central Government for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners.
Expressing deep concern over the delay in accepting the recommendations of Ashok Lavasa Committee report by the NDA Government at the Centre till today, Shastri also urged PM Modi to immediately accept the report adding that committee in its report had proposed a minimum scale/pension of lower cadre employees and pensioners to Rs 21000. He said this report has already been submitted to the Finance Ministry since one and half year, but this report had not been accepted causing lot of financial strains to the employees both Central and State Governments and pensioners.
He demanded an early acceptance of the Ashok Lavasa Committee recommendations so that confusion and uncertainty among the employees and pensioners in this regard could come to an end.
Enhancing wages of the daily rated workers to Rs 500 per day, beside pension benefits to all private/public sector undertaking employees and workers, total DA exemption from income tax, setting up of National Wage commission to evolve national wage policy throughout country once for all and regularization of the services of several thousand daily rated workers working in the various departments of state Government were others demands highlighted in this memorandum.
