NMC demands release of pending 17% DA

JAMMU, Sept 22: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to release two pending installments of 17 per cent DA due from January and July this year in favour of employees and pensioners of the State Government, so that salaried class and pensioners get relief in view of increasing prices of essential commodities and inflation.
Addressing a meeting of NMC workers, president, NMC, Subash Shastri stated that in view of the inbuilt provisions in the annual budget, there should not be any hitch for the State Government, more so when others States have already released the 10 per cent and 7 per cent DA installments to their employees and pensioners adding that an early decision in this regard would be genuine measure to provide some relief to them.
He declared full cooperation on behalf of NMC to the State Government in restoring normalcy in the State.
As the DA has already touched 107 per cent, he urged for early merger of 50 per cent DA into basic pay/pension with retrospective effect.
He also demanded grant of 20 per cent interim relief in favor of both Centre and State Government employees and pensioners, release of pending salary of casual labourers working in various departments besides their immediate regularization, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers to Rs 10,000 per month at the national level, amendment in SRO 64, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in RDD, increase in medical allowance to Rs 1,000 per month and release of 5th installment of 6th Pay Commission arrears.
