NMC for merger of 50% DA with basic pay

JAMMU, Aug  26: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has demanded merger of 50 % Dearness Allowance (DA) with the basic pay of the employees and pensioners.
In a press statement issued here today, the NMC leader Subash Shastri demanded merger of 50 per cent DA of Central/ State Government employees and pensioners with their basic and pension at the next Union Cabinet meeting as was recommended by the 4th Pay Commission.
The trade union leader pointed out that DA of pensioners and employees has gone up to 65% as it exceeded more than 50 % after the release of DA from January 1, 2011, and hence the 50 % DA should be merged with basic pay.
Mr Shastri also urged the Prime Minister to immediately constitute 7th Pay Commission which should cover both Central and State Government employees and pensioners so that its recommendations are implemented simultaneously through out the country. He also demanded enhancement of daily wage rate from Rs 125 to Rs 300 per day.
Among others present in the conference included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Ashok Khajuria, Sham Lal and S K Kochar.
