NMC for revocation of decision of freezing DA instalments

JAMMU, Oct 15: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has demanded revocation of Central Government decision regarding freezing of release of Dearness Allowance (DA) instalments till June 2021 in favour of both Central/States and UT employees and pensioners.
NMC president Subash Shastri appealed the Prime Minister to reconsider the decision. “Since the DA instalments have been stopped, the employees are facing hardships to cope-up day to day rising prices of essential commodities that too in COVID-19 pandemic.
“Dearness relief is not wage increase, it is just a compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living,” said Shastri while addressing a meeting of NMC activist at Gandhi Nagar.
Stressing on the need of challenges being faced by the Government employees and pensioners due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Shastri pointed out that the salaried class of the country were the forefront of battle against COVID-19, risking their safety and life to the nation. “At this juncture, the freezing of DA instalment is impacting the life and living of salaried class and pensioners,” he added.
He urged the Government to look into the matter and take necessary steps for releasing of DA instalments in favour of employees and pensioners.
