SRINAGAR, June 21: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued directives regarding the availability of recognized and permitted postgraduate broad specialty seats for the admission process in the academic session of 2023.
The directives aim to streamline the seat allocation process based on the NEET PG-2023 examination results.
According to the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), a total of 2,828 applications for recognition or renewal of recognition of PG medical qualifications were received from Medical Colleges and institutes in 2022. “Out of these, decisions have been made on 1,870 applications, while the remaining applications are still under review.”
As the counseling process for NEET PG-2023 is set to commence soon, the NMC has instructed that the existing recognized and permitted PG Broad Specialty seats available in Medical Colleges and institutes will be considered for admission in the upcoming academic session. “A seat matrix will be prepared accordingly to facilitate the allocation process.”
However, the NMC has also clarified that colleges have the option to reduce the number of seats under special circumstances. This provision allows flexibility for colleges to make adjustments if required.
The directives from the NMC aim to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process for postgraduate medical courses and by utilizing the recognized and permitted seats, aspiring medical students will have the opportunity to secure their desired specializations and further their education in their chosen fields.
