NMC urges CM to release pending installment of DA

JAMMU, June 1: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged the Chief Minister to release the pending installment of 10 per cent DA due from January last and 4th installment of the 6th Pay Commission arrears in favour of its employees and pensioners in cash in view of sharp increase of the prices of essential commodities.
Addressing a rally of NMC activists at Muthi, NMC president Subash Shastri said that the installment of the DA has already been released by the Central   as well as several State Governments in favour of their employees and pensioners since long.
He said that in view of increasing prices and inflation, the release of DA installment and 4th installment of the 6th Pay Commission arrears has become more necessary in J&K.
Shastri also expressed his grave concern over inordinate delay in merger of 50 percent DA into basic pay and pension which forms part of the recommendations of the 4th Pay Commission implemented since January first 1986.
He said the Government is duty bound to merger of DA into basic pay/pension and grant of 20 percent interim relief on agreed principles. Pleading the cause of working class particularly the daily wagers, Shastri called for their immediate regularization as they have high hopes from the Coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah.
Other demands highlighted by him include pension benefits to the employees of PSUs, release of wages of daily wagers of Social Forestry Project, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers of RDD, enhancement of wages of daily wagers  to rupees ten thousand  per month, removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre  in SRO 93,enhancing medical allowance to rupee one thousand per month, declare Jammu/Srinagar as B- cities, early  amendment  in SRO 64  and strictly implementing  CP Fund scheme  in all Government. departments.
