JAMMU, Oct 21: On the basis of various complaints received by State president BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) concerning some agencies trying to encroach the land on the site identified for the Mini Stadium at Bhagwati Nagar near Fourth bridge, the BJP leader along with the Deputy Comm-issioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh and police officials local residents of the area and political activists visited the site to ensure that encroachment will not be allowed on the State land.
Interacting with locals, Sat Sharma said that these 45 kanals of land were identified few months back for the construction of a mini stadium in the Constituency and no other agency will be allowed to work on this land.
He said that for more than 5 decades, Panj Peer Dangal Committee has been in existence which has been playing a major role in organizing activities concerning Indian Wrestling on the same spot and providing improvisation for other sporting activities as well, the decision of constructing a mini stadium was taken so that talent of Jammu could find a place to enhance its abilities.
He also stated that as per the legal requirements, the land is a property of State Government and no agency has the right to acquire or encroach it.
While dismissing all allegations of encroachment, DC Jammu Simrandeep Singh said that the land identified for the mini stadium is a State land and any agency trying to encroach such property of State Government will be dealt as per the law and will be taken to the task.
He also stated that an amount of Rs 4.5 crore has been sanctioned for the same by the State Government and soon the works for a fully equipped Mini Stadium will start in order to provide best possible facilities to budding players of Jammu province.
BJP Vice President Parmod Kapahi complimented the BJP president and DC Jammu for taking an immediate action on the grievance of the masses and stated that with the help of the MLA and present Coalition Government, the works for the stadium will start soon and a vigil by the locals will also be maintained so that no other agency tries to encroach the land for their personal purposes.
