ANANTNAG, July 11: Stating that J&K is the worst hit on developmental, economic, political, employment and various other fronts, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir today expressed serious concern over the long pending development needs confronting public in Shahbad Bala, Dooru and elsewhere in J&K.
Mir said nothing has changed on the ground after the reorganization and downgrading of J&K into two UTs.
AICC general secretary was addressing a Party workers’ convention at Kapran in Dooru Assembly segment of South Kashmir, where he was apprised about the local developmental issues, price hike, joblessness, huge electricity bills leading to the financial crisis and hardships to the public.
Mir expressed anguish over the extreme unemployment, price hike on essentials, poor supply of electricity and various other local developmental issues being faced by the public, blaming the Centre for failing J&K on every count.
He lamented the fact that public grievances and their developmental needs are not being responded appropriately, with the result, there is a sense of disappointment and isolation amongst the public. LG Adm must come out of the deep slumber and take effective measures to recognize the public needs for their redressal, on priority basis, Mir added.
AICC leader hit out at the Central Govt for failing to fulfill the promises made to the public after the reorganization and downgrading of J&K. He said it is apparent that J&K has been pushed towards darkness. The claims being made with respect to development and peace in J&K is contrary to the ground situation while nothing has changed on the ground.
Mir told the Party workers to make every possible endeavour to seek redressal of public grievances at every appropriate forum.
AICC general secretary assured the public that the Congress Party shall continue to fight for the restoration of democratic process and Statehood to J&K.
