No ‘coalition’ to be formed without Cong in J&K: Soz

UDHAMPUR, May 25: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president, Prof  Saif-ud-Din Soz today said that no Coalition Government could  be formed without the help of Congress Party in 2014 polls and Congress would emerge as the largest party in the State.
Talking to the media-persons at the sidelines of the public rally here today, Prof Soz claimed that in coming Assembly elections, Congress party would emerge as the largest party in the State.  He said no Government could be formed without the help of Congress party again.
Replying to another question, PCC chief said Armed Forces Special Powers Act should be withdrawn from the areas where it is not needed any more but it should remain in power where militancy was still there. He said that his party has already cleared its stand over the AFSPA and for this broader consensus is needed from all the stake holders. To yet another question Prof Soz said Congress will continue to strive for 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act and has not given up. He reiterated that in coalition there are certain compulsions but Congress party is trying to come up to the expectations of the people and fulfill the promises made with them during previous elections.
Earlier, addressing a large gathering the PCC chief said that coalition era in the State is going to stay but Congress would emerge as the single largest party in 2014 elections.  No coalition is possible without Congress party. People of all the three regions have realized that Congress can serve them better  and the mood of the people is to support the Congress party.   Prof Soz said Congress has to accept the challenge of coming up to the expectations and aspirations of the people  and adopt more effective modes of service to them in view of growing needs.
While responding to the public demands PCC president said that he will refer these issues to the    concerned authorities for speedy disposal. He also sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from his MPLAD Fund for the development works in Udhampur.
Minister for Horticulture and Housing Raman Bhalla, MoS for  Revenue ( Ind charge) Aijaz Khan, Ex-MP and PCC senior vice president Dharam Pal, PCC vice president Th Hari Singh, Ex-minister Mula Ram, INTUC chief Shiv Kumar Sharma, DCC president Bhupinder Singh Pathania besides others  also addressed the gathering.
Earlier, Prof Soz was accorded grand reception by the party workers at Tikri, Ghari and Udhampur. He was profusely garlanded. He was received by DCC president Bhupinder Singh Pathania and other senior party leaders. MLA Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat  besides several other leaders from the other faction of the party were found missing in the function.
