SRINAGAR, July 4: “There would be no compromise on quality of work”, said the Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari while inspecting ongoing macadamization of roads in Srinagar city today.
He asked the engineers of R&B Department to strictly follow the specifications and ensure that macadamization is done as per the prescribed norms.
The Minister along with Chief Engineer and other senior engineers of R&B Department, today, visited the sites in Srinagar city where macadamization of roads is going on. He visited Safakadal, Daresh Kadal, Kak Sarai, Gogjibagh and Chanapora.
The Minister said that with the improvement in weather and increasing temperature, the department has started macadamization across the Valley. He said 147 sites have been identified for macadamization out of which work is going on at 50 sites. He said the macadamization at remaining sites would be started shortly.
Syed Altaf asked engineers to adopt 50 mm specifications in macadamization to ensure construction of durable and comfortable roads. He said the contractors have to maintain the roads for three years after macadamization. He further said that this specification would not only save money but also time for the engineers who could concentrate on other projects. He said the people would feel perceptible difference in new roads as the specification adopted would ensure better quality of roads.
