JAMMU, Oct 14: Government today said that the non-COVID patients suffering with other diseases were given due care in health institutions across J&K since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and it was ensured that no patient suffering from other disease is neglected.
Though providing no-COVID health services were quite difficult keeping in view safety of the patients as there was high risk of contracting with COVID infection, however, all possible measures were taken by Health and Medical Education Department to provide adequate health services to non-COVID patients and reflection of the same can be seen in work done report of all the health institutes in J&K since beginning of COVID-19 pandemic,” said a release issued by Health and Medical Education Department, J&K, quoting Financial Commissioner, Atal Dulloo.
Dulloo said that 59,30,082 non-COVID patients visited the OPDs for seeking consultation for different diseases between April to September 2020 while 2,55,320 non-COVID hospital admissions were made during the same period. About 49,123 normal deliveries, 16,524 Cesserians and 15,363 surgeries were also done on non-COVID patients during this period, he added.
“The Department also ensured unhindered diagnostic facilities like ultrasound, X-Ray, ECG, etc to non-COVID patients. From April to September 2020, record 18,95,101 laboratory tests were conducted in laboratories of health institutions across the UT while as 1,60,161 patients availed facility of ultrasound, 2, 34,787 X-Ray and 1,08,222 ECG,” the FC maintained.
