No compromise with security: Speaker

Srinagar, Oct 10: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone today directed the police to take action against the three youth who jumped into the Well of the Assembly on October 8.
The trio created unruly scenes in the Assembly after they jumped into the Well of the Assembly from visitors’ gallery and unfurled the flag of a newly-floated party, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party, and shouted slogans in favour of new employment policy.
However, they were overpowered by Assembly marshals and placed under arrest on the orders of Speaker till October 10. The youth had got passes on the request of expelled BJP member, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, to witness the proceedings from the public gallery.
The three youth Manish Khajuria, Sunny Malhotra and Ambedkar Gupta were produced before the Speaker today who directed the police to take action against them as per law.
The three youth were then shifted to the Police Station Shaheed Gunj where police lodged FIR against them today for contempt of the House by jumping into the well of the House and raising slogans inside.
Sources said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed displeasure over the incident and has asked the police to take stern action against them. He has reportedly said that no body should be allowed to take the House for granted.
Meanwhile, the Speaker told the House today that his directions to security force personnel guarding the House to frisk the MLAs was in no way to hurt or doubt the members.
The Speaker was replying to a question raised by the CPI(M) MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami before Question Hour began. He wanted to know if the Speaker had given directions to security personnel to conduct frisking of Chief Minister and other MLAs.
The MLA said reports in local newspapers stated that the Speaker has directed that the Chief Minister and other MLAs be frisked before allowing them to enter the House. The Speaker said he still maintained that there would be no compromise on the security of the House. “I have never named Chief Minister in his directions to security personnel”, he added.
Lone said after October 8 incident there could be no compromise with regards to security. He said before the start of the session, a security related meeting was held in which it was decided that all measures would be taken for proper security of the House. “I want full cooperation from all the members in this regard”, he added.
The Speaker said he had given some directions about the entry of Personnel Assistance (PA) of MLAs into the House. “I do not mean to hurt or doubt the members”, he added.
