NEW DELHI, Nov 28: The government today told the Lok Sabha that it has not taken any de-mining operations along the Line of Control (LoC) during the last three years or for that matter during the current year either.
In a written reply, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, told the House that an Army jawan had died in a landmine operation. The Minister said due care has to be taken to ensure minimum casualties to soldiers and civilians due to mine accidents. He said mechanical and hand-handling de-mining equipment is available with the Army.
The Minister said detectors have been procured and made available to the Army formations.
