No Govt possible without PDP: Iltija

SRINAGAR, Sept 28: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti, today said that no Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is possible without PDP.
“People understand what that means. But let me tell you, no Government formation will happen in J&K without the PDP. You must strengthen us, and we will support you,” Iltija said at an election rally at Kreeri constituency of Baramulla today.
She highlighted that any developmental work carried out in the area happened during PDP’s four years in power.
Iltija said that dignity comes before anything else, emphasizing that the PDP was founded to ensure the safety and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“PDP was created to safeguard people’s dignity, as it is the most important thing. When we came to power, we worked to lift people out of the hardships they were facing,” she said.
Criticizing the National Conference (NC), she remarked that when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was with Congress, “NC used to refer to Congressmen as ‘gandi naali ke keedey’ (gutter worms).”
However, she pointed out that NC later formed an accord with Rajiv Gandhi, and since then, “Congress has been in NC’s pocket.”
Basharat Bukhari, PDP’s candidate for Kreeri, urged people to fight against what he called injustice.
“We have the weapon of the vote, and through it, we will teach them a lesson. The BJP claimed they would win 400 seats, but the people used their vote and brought them down to 240,” he said.
