No Jumat-ul-Vida, Qadr prayers allowed at Jamia

Srinagar, Apr 27: Authorities have decided not to allow Jumat-ul-Vida as well as Shab-e-Qadr prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid here.
An official said that the decision to disallow prayers has been taken as there was threat to peace in the area.
Earlier, senior police and administrative officials visited Jamia Masjid to take stock of the situation and it was decided that no Jumat-ul-Vida and Shab-e-Qadr prayers will be held at the Jamia Masjid.
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid denounced the decision of authorities to disallow the prayers.
“Government and Police officials headed by a magistrate visited the Jama Masjid premises today after Iftar and conveyed to the Auqaf members that authorities have decided not to allow Jumat-ul-vida congregational prayers in Jamia Masjid on the last Friday of Ramadan as well as no prayers or Shab to be allowed on Shab-e-Qadr at the historic Jama Masjid,” a statement by Anjuman said here.
