No Kashmiri cross to other side of LoC, 23 PoK guests arrive this side

 

SRINAGAR: For the second successive week, no Kashmiri crossed to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) while 23 new guests from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon.

Official sources told reporters that 35 returnees cross side at the Kaman Post, the last Indian military post on the LoC in Uri sector.

They said no Kashmiri crossed to PoK for the second consecutive week today.

However, 30 PoK residents, who had come here in previous buses returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives, separated in 1947, in Kashmir. They included 15 women and six children.

Sources said 23 PoK guests, including eight women and one children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu bridge on foot.

They said five Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, returned to their homes after completing stay on other side of the LoC. They included three women.

So far 653 POK guests had arrived here in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarad in 2013. However, only 191 Kashmiris crossed over to other side during the same period.

The bus service, started since April 7,2005, has helped thousands of families divided in 1947 to meet each other. (AGENCIES)
