LEH, Dec 5: In view of approaching Ladakhi Losar (New Year) celebration, the Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting with all the stakeholders including Ladakh Buddhist Association, Merchant Association and HoDs at Council Secretariat today.
Chairing the meeting, CEC said that though LBA, LGA and number of villages have already decided not to celebrate Losar due to continuous spare in the COVID-19 positive cases in Leh district, but there will be symbolic celebration of Losar festival at village and family levels. To ensure availability of essential commodities and basic facilities for public during Losar, the CEC sought detail information regarding power supply, stocking and availability of essential commodities, availability of Juniper (Shukpa), maintenance of law and order, awareness about SOPs regarding COVID-19, drinking water facilities etc in the meeting.
CEC Gyalson directed X-En PDD Tundup Spalzang to ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially during important days of Losar celebration including smooth power supply in other villages which are dependent on DG sets.
Enquiring about the availability of essential commodities including vegetables, mutton, eggs etc, CEC directed AD FCS & CA department, Leh Sherap Gyalson and Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Leh Sonam Rinchen to ensure availability of essential commodities on reasonable rates in Leh and other blocks of Leh district. DRC Leh was also instructed to provide subsidized commodities as per past practice from cooperative stores in all the blocks.
AD FCS&CA Department, Leh Sherap Gyalson informed the meeting that there is no shortage of essential commodities in Leh district.
ADC, Leh Sonam Chosjor apprised CEC that a team of Market Checking Squad will make a surprise inspection of market during Losar festival to ensure availability of essential commodities, its quality and to check market rates of the commodities.
Regarding availability of Juniper (Shukpa) during Losar festival, CEC directed DFO, Leh to ensure required supply of Shukpa in Leh market as per past practice.
Regarding sanitation of Chowkhang Vihara Leh, CEC directed Municipality Department to do their part and directed Add SP Leh Tashi Punchok to ensure law and order including traffic management during festival. CMO, Leh Dr Motup, and Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Leh Stanzin Rabgais were directed to spread awareness about COVID -19 and it’s SOPs during Losar festival.
The meeting was attended by President LBA Youth Wing Konchok Stak and LBA Youth representatives and concerned officers.
