UDHAMPUR, June 30: A population of over 50,000 souls is suffering badly in remote Dudu Sub Division of district Udhampur as there is no doctor (MBBS) in the only Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the entire area at Latti Tehsil headquarters.
Chairman of Latti Development Committee and Sarpanch Latti-A, Kasturi Lal Gupta said that Dudu Sub Division is a far flung area and there are emergent conditions like bear bite/attack, pregnant women’s delivery cases, natural disasters, poison cases, road traffic accidents etc. The people have to suffer a lot during such situations. There is no other option except shifting over 80 % patients to Chenani or Udhampur hospitals.
He said Latti hospital caters to the need of huge population with surrounding hilly areas.
During rainy season the chances of road closure are high in this belt. A population of over 50,000 souls is without MBBS doctor. He said Director Health Services Jammu and even Commissioner/ Secretary H&ME, was requested to post a doctor at Latti hospital but the public is still waiting. He alleged that CMO Udhampur was approached several times but he never responds to the public plight.
LDC members sought urgent intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha into the matter and demanded posting of at least one MBBS doctor, if authorities are not in position to provide sanctioned strength of doctors in this hospital.
