No one is in charge in Srinagar at moment: Omar

SRINAGAR: Upping the ante on PDP-led Government over Advisor to Chief Minister Amitabh Mattoo’s statement that he doesn’t know who imposed the ban on local newspapers in Kashmir, main opposition National Conference Omar Abdullah said his comments show that no one is in charge in Srinagar at the moment.

“If you needed an admission that NO ONE is in charge in Srinagar at the moment you got it from the advisor to the CM,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the State, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Mr Abdullah was reacting to a statement by Mr Mattoo to a national news channel in which he said, “The Government didn’t know who took decision on ban. Will take action once crisis is over.”

“The Chief Minister herself believes in freedom of expression even if it against establishment,” Mr Mattoo said.

Reacting to Mr Mattoo’s comment that there was no ban on newspapers and there was some miscommunication, asked why it took 48 hours to clear it. “Miscommunication. If that is all it was why did it take 48 hours to correct,” he asked. (AGENCIES)
